RICKY SKAGGS WINS 12TH GRAMMY

Los Angeles, California - Bluegrass ambassador Ricky Skaggs received his 12th career Grammy Award in February for his newest album Instrumentals. Skaggs and his band Kentucky Thunder were awarded the Grammy for Best Bluegrass Album—their 4th win in that category.

Praised by fans and critics alike, Instrumentals is considered a landmark album for Skaggs, with each of its eleven tracks beautifully crafted by Ricky himself. Go to “Artist Profile” to preview “Montana Slim” from the album.

Skaggs has won an incredible seven Grammy Awards since starting his bluegrass label ten years ago. Every project he has released under the Skaggs Family Records label has been nominated for a Grammy including: Bluegrass Rules!, Ancient Tones, Soldier of the Cross, Big Mon: the Songs of Bill Monroe, History of the Future, Live at the Charleston Music Hall, Brand New Strings and Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder Instrumentals.

RICKY SKAGGS
COLLABORATES WITH
BRUCE HORNSBY

Ricky Skaggs and pianist Bruce Hornsby have joined forces for an eponymous collaborative album due out March 20th via Sony BMG/Legacy. The album includes one of Hornsby’s prior hits “Mandolin Rain” and an arrangement of Rick James’ “Super Freak.”

Ricky Skaggs is a deep musical soul, one of the great keepers of the traditional and mountain music flame, Hornsby says. It was so inspiring—and educational—to make this record with these virtuoso musicians.

Skaggs and Hornsby recently previewed their new material during a January performance at B.B. King’s Blues Club and on the CMT show “Crossroads,” which premiered February 24th.
